Imposter syndrome
Imposter syndrome is real. It can shape the life we live, and its effects can go even further. I believe it is one of the reasons behind the negative selection we are seeing everywhere today, most noticeably in politics. People who are capable and truly know their craft often feel like they are not good enough, while loud and often less capable people take higher roles and earn better pay. With today’s style of work, this becomes even harder. Sitting at a computer all day, doing tasks that feel meaningless. We often wonder why we are doing them, but usually those questions stay in our head. We get burned out by work that feels pointless, especially when we cannot see any real results. We end up living paycheck to paycheck.
Somewhere along the way, we lose our ability to think big. We start to feel small and incapable. But that is wrong. And it leads to lost potential, wasted effort, and poor outcomes.
There is no perfect conclusion here. We simply need to be aware of it. We must keep thinking big, even when we feel like we will not make it. And we must remember that thoughts are just thoughts. They exist in our head, but they do not define what we are truly capable of.
Stay awesome!
