Best version of yourself

Imagine that you have one goal in life: to become the best version of yourself. Everything you do, every decision you make, is guided by that goal. Just imagine this for a few moments...

How many people really live like that? What would the world look like if we all did? Would it be the same as it is now?

I believe that our definition of the best version of ourselves changes over time and with experience. Yet, in every stage of life, we pursue what we believe is best.

At one point, we may think that getting good grades and being a good student is the highest achievement, and many of us strive for that. Later, a new version of ourselves wants to get the best possible job and climb the corporate ladder. Then we may want to build a family, find happiness, achieve financial security, and raise wonderful children.

I know this is a very general picture, and many people may not relate to it completely. The problem is that, on this path, we often do not think about the best version of ourselves. Instead, we focus on what others believe is best for us.

Then one day, you wake up and ask yourself: "WTF? Is this really the best I can become?"

For many people, this is when the midlife crisis begins. They start questioning whether the life they have built is truly the one they want. Once again, they begin searching for the best version of themselves. And once again, many of us fall into the trap of pursuing what others think is good for us, rather than discovering what is genuinely right for us.

Perhaps becoming the best version of ourselves is not about reaching a specific destination. It is about repeatedly questioning whether the life we are building reflects our own values or the expectations of others.

The danger is not choosing the wrong path once. The danger is spending years walking a path that was never truly ours.

And maybe the path we choose for ourselves will turn out to be a mistake. Maybe it will lead to failure or disappointment. But it will be our mistake. We will learn from it, grow through it, and carry its lessons with us. That is far better than living a life shaped by someone else's expectations and wondering what might have happened if we had trusted ourselves instead.
