Attention, attention!!!

We live in an era when our attention is being stolen and traded behind our backs. AI is observing us and serving us more of the same. We get more of what we pay attention to. Mindless scrolling has become part of everyday life. We’re wasting so much time watching pointless videos for a few shots of dopamine. So much potential is being wasted that way.

So my New Year’s resolution is to take better control of my attention. To be more of a creator than a consumer. As the saying goes: “If it’s free, you’re the product.” Don’t be a product.

I guess this is also connected to something else that’s been on my mind.

We often assign such low worth to ourselves, and we often see other people, who are usually not better or more capable than we are, as superior. We’re great at advising our friends and family on what to do when they’re in tough situations. But when we face tough situations or tough decisions ourselves, we often criticize ourselves for not being better, or the best.

We compare ourselves to other people, even to people we don’t know. We don’t know someone’s background or what it took for them to get where they are now. The right thing to do is to stop obsessing over that and focus on what we want to do.

From my experience, it’s much more likely to succeed than to fail. When I look back, I see that most of the things I decided to do, I was successful at.

It seems all of this comes down to one thing: using my time better. Using my attention better. Always learning and being better than yesterday. Not wasting time comparing myself to others.

“How would it look if it were easy?”

Stay awesome!
